Our PhD student Matúš organized the 3rd µMeeting bringing together microbiology students from MUNI

Our PhD student Matúš Pešta had the pleasure of organizing the 3rd μMeeting – a small but vibrant gathering of microbiology students and researchers at Masaryk University Brno. The idea behind μMeeting is simple: to create a relaxed, open space where students can present their BSc’s, MSc’s and PhD’s projects, get feedback from peers, and learn more about the research going on in other groups at our department.
This year, we had great representation from four research labs, spanning fundamental and applied virology, industrial microbiology and synthetic biology of aerobic bacteria, or physiology of anaerobic Archaea. In addition to student talks, we hosted three invited presentations that added extra depth to the program. Alexandra Wilson (PostDoc from Růžek Lab) and our boss Pavel Dvořák shared their personal experiences with science and academic career paths, and the iGEM Brno team gave us a sneak peek into their exciting duckweed project, which they hope will take them all the way to the top at this year’s iGEM.
Btw. congrats to Michaela Beránková from Růžek lab for winning the Best Presentation Award! And big thanks to everyone who joined, contributed, and made the day what it was.
