Researcher

Postdocs

Hi, I’m Nastya. I’m trying to direct the superpower of thermophilic bacteria for bioplastic production. Genetic manipulation of thermophiles requires special approach due to their “hot temper”. In my free time I read fantasy, travel and “engineer” new cooking recipes.

Hi, I am Miguel. I have a great interest in gene manipulation as it enables us to understand and redirect the very core foundations of life for good. I came to MBL to make P. putida help us live a more sustainable life by leveraging gene manipulation for better bioprocessing. Outside of playing with microorganisms, I enjoy mostly good food but also a good book, nature and being active (biking, hiking, run, ...).

Lab technician

Hi, I’m Karolína, but everyone calls me Kája. I work as a lab technician, though to my colleagues, I’m more than that – I’m the empathetic hero who not only solves every lab issue but also helps with life’s challenges. My motto in the lab is simple: no problem is unsolvable as long as you have the right weapon in hand, like WD-40 universal lubricant.

Ph.D. candidates

Hi, I'm Bara! I joined the MBL group to help Pseudomonas putida find it's full potential in becoming a vegetarian. Currently, I am excited about coordinating team building activities for diverse P. putida strains. In my free time, I enjoy real life ^^ ..friends, food, and adventures.

Hi, I’m Baru! Both my parents are civil engineers. When I told them I wanted to study biology, they were sad that I wouldn’t follow in their footsteps. Now I’m engineering P. putida to build synthetic protein scaffolds on its surface and everyone is happy!

Hi, I am Barča! From a very early age enthusiastic about tiny creatures, the smaller the better. Currently torturing Pseudomonas by deleting regulators, inserting transporters and force-feeding it alternative substrates, all in a loving way.

Hi, my name is Matúš. I’m deeply immersed in the fascinating field of microbial biotechnologies. My research revolves around programmable bacterial lysis and synthetic microbial consortia. In my free time, you'll find me exploring the great outdoors through hiking and running, capturing moments with film camera, or vibing to the rhythms of good music.
