New publication in Environmental Microbiology
We are happy to share our new publication Water potential governs the effector specificity of the transcriptional regulator XylR of Pseudomonas putida (https://doi.org/10.1111/1462-2920.16342) prepared in wide collaboration of authors from Spain, Great Britain, Germany, and Czech Republic. The study reveals how the water availability in the environment influences ligand specificity of transcriptional regulator XylR, which rules expression of genes on paradigmatic TOL plasmid pWW0 of Pseudomonas putida mt-2. We show that the regulator becomes more specific towards head TOL substrates when cells are grown under water subsaturation (which is typical for many environmental niches) while its specificity is broadened in water-saturating environment. Enjoy the reading!
