MBL was awarded a new GAČR grant

Our bilateral Polish-Czech project, which MBL co-applied for with Jan Brezovsky - a PI at Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań - has been selected for funding.

In this project, we will investigate the carbon PUSH effect we identified in the work of our former student Dalimil Bujdoš, published in Metabolic Engineering in 2023. We plan to explore this effect across various bacterial species and sugar substrates, combining advanced rational protein engineering with metabolic engineering strategies. Our goal is to better understand and harness high-capacity sugar transporters and how they can be leveraged for uncovering the unused capacity of bacterial metabolism.
