Baru, Matúš and Kristýna presented MBL research at German Conference on Synthetic Biology in Regensburg, Germany
MBL members once again participated in the annual German Conference on Synthetic Biology, organized by the German Association for Synthetic Biology. This year, the conference took place in the picturesque Bavarian city of Regensburg, whose old town is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Three of our members presented their projects in the form of posters (Baru talked about engineering of biocatalytic structures on the cell surface of P. putida, Matúš described his project dissecting the functionality of selected programmable lytic systems across P. putida chassis strains and Kristýna presented the potential of leveraging native Cas9 system for genome engineering of thermophilic bacterium Caldimonas thermodepolymerans) and spent three days answering numerous questions from attendees. The conference provided us with the opportunity to establish new connections with young scientists all over the world interested in synthetic biology, while also strengthening our existing collaborations. The MBL trio thoroughly enjoyed both the conference and its accompanying program, and they are already looking forward to the next event.
