We visited an agricultural biogas plant. We discussed microbially induced corrosion with the biogas plant operator and colleagues from the Brno University of Technology.
LAM members participate Junior University (MjUNI) which is a lifelong learning programme under the auspices of Masaryk University and is intended for pupils and students from 9 to 18 years of age. It is a unique opportunity to get to know the academic environment and to try out the role of a student for real. Our task was to bring to light the undoubted importance of microorganisms in a wide range of areas of daily life.

Throughout March, we focused on preparing five project proposals covering important topics in environmental microbiology. These included microbially induced corrosion, reducing methane emissions in agriculture, and the role of sulfate-reducing bacteria in the intestinal tract.
