Bára, Barča, Martin, and Pavel presented MBL research at GASB and Designer Biology Conference in Freiburg
Bára Burýšková, Barča Popelářová, Martin Sitte, and Pavel Dvořák represented MBL for the first time at the annual conference of the German Association for Synthetic Biology (GASB), joined this year with the Designer Biology conference. The event took place in the beautiful city of Freiburg im Breisgau and gave us the opportunity to establish numerous new collaborations and friendships. While Bára got for the first time a chance to present her project "Mutualistic bacterial consortium for the co-utilisation of lignocellulosic disaccharides" orally (and she did really great!), Barča, Martin, and Pavel presented posters (Barča described her project dissecting the effects of porins on carbohydrate metabolism in P. putida, Martin talked about the heterologous expression of phosphoketolase shunt in P. putida, and Pavel focused on promoting our novel PUSH-based strategy for enhancing glycolytic flux). Despite demanding travelling, the whole crew enjoyed the conference a lot and we hope to be back in 2024.
